Last chance for Silverbacks against Sprucies

It's a Spruce King Saturday for the Silverbacks who are looking to get back into the win column after a 4-1 Wednesday loss against Chilliwack.

Garrett Hendrickson scored the lone goal of the 1st period in that game as the Apes got off to a good start but once again fell behind during a momentary lapse in the 2nd that allowed the Chiefs to score two goals in less than two minutes.

The Silverbacks had a tough time working against Chilliwack's system after falling behind and may need to look back to last Saturday's game against the Penticton Vees for motivation.

The Apes lost that game 4-1 but did all the little things well during an effort to be proud of against the top team in the country.

The Apes get a streaking Spruce Kings team on Saturday; Prince George has won six of its past seven games in the month of February, including two against Salmon Arm.

PG topped SA 4-3 and 6-4 early in the month up north, the Apes pushed hard in those games but struggled with the Spruce Kings top line in both contests.

The Silverbacks do have positives to look at lately such as the scoring streaks of Garrett Hendrickson and Myles McCauley. Hendrickson has seven points in the month of February while McCauley has himself five points in six games since returning from injury.

Gorilla fans should also keep their heads on a swivel for Shane Hanna who after notching only four points in his first fifteen games of the season now has seven in his past ten games.

The Apes will look to put a damper on the Sprucies streak in the final meeting of the season between the two clubs.
